How to make New Year's Resolutions Work

Setting New Years Resolutions can feel intimidating or…it can be fun. I believe it’s important to pull back and retreat to recharge and have the energy to accomplish all the beautiful goals you set for yourself. However busy you may feel, it is worth the effort to set aside time for yourself to do something calming or do nothing at all.

I’m sure many have set intentions subconsciously or consciously. I don’t know about you but I am looking forward to an upgrade from 2020 to the year 2021. 2020 fatigue has reached its peak, it's time for a new chapter. A refresh and reset are much needed so feel free to set your intentions. Then…after setting your intentions allow yourself to get caught up in day-to-day life rather than fixating on your dreams, desires, and goals. Get comfortable, get warm, wear a fuzzy robe, make a cup of tea, enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book, and snuggle under the covers. Go for a walk after throwing a load in the laundry. Write a funny story. Binge a couple episodes of Bridgerton. Take a bath, organize your drawers. Meditate under candlelight. Do what feels good, what feels right, and get ready to go back into the world feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. When you go out there, know that you are not alone in wanting to make this year your year.

The intention that I set for January is effortlessness. I am looking forward to being productive in a way that feels almost easy and natural. Feeling overworked is just not a trend I want to commit to for the beginning of my year so I’m just gonna chill. Now, here's the recipe for succeeding at your resolutions, I promise its simple:

  1. Set intentions/goals/dreams/desires
  2. Forget about them and live your life
  3. Relax and Recharge
  4. Go out there and do what you feel inspired to do
